Margaret M. Gage (the M. was not an abbreviation) was born 5/25/1895 in
Brooklyn N.Y. and died 12/25/1982 in Pacific Palisades CA. Her father, Baron
W. Gage, was a Woolworth executive and left Margaret with considerable means.
She was an actress touring for a number of years with Charles Rann Kennedy
and Edith Wynne Matthison and taught drama courses at Bennett College in
Millbrook, N.Y. She was a pacifist and socialist who supported a number of
reformist and humanitarian causes. She never married. She was probably
included on the list because of her donations to the McGovern campaign.
